Under the “Secure Communities” program, 1,006 undocumented immigrants have been deported from the Travis County jail since June 2009.
The program, under the US Immigration and Custom Enforcement, or ICE, aims to deport the worst of undocumented criminals from American soil by allowing federal agents to check the citizenship status and criminal records of anyone brought in to jail.

Last Friday, August 27th, some UT students received unfortunate news in an email.
Those students received the following message:
Your UT Athletics student ticket account is currently listed as Inactive for one of two reasons:
(1) Your Registration/Tuition Bill hasn't been processed/paid. OR (2) You're not considered to be an official UT Student according to University rules and regulations.

UT opened a new admissions center in Longview, Texas, Saturday.
The East Texas Admission Center opened at 10 a.m. under the direction of Mario Villa. Villa, a UT graduate, has worked as an admissions counselor for the East Texas region for over two years. His staff includes UT graduates and current admissions counselors Brittany Fiveash and Claire Mizell.
The center, like others located throughout the state in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, will serve to provide prospective students the opportunity for admission help and application tips.
