[Insert Candidate Here] for UT Student Government President

The Horn's official endorsement for the 2012 UT Student Government President.

Dear Readers,

As you may know, the UT Student Government elections have been heating up these past few weeks, especially the race for President. We’ve extensively covered the topic, dishing the latest happenings ranging from campaign news to personal statements.

So obviously then, a natural question arises – what do we really think? Is The Horn going to take sides and officially endorse a candidate?

The official answer? No.

We understand that it is common for publications to choose leaders to place their support behind. But here at The Horn, we beg to differ, and felt doing so wouldn't fit who we are. We foster an open platform that aims to serve all viewpoints of the UT community; we promote and embrace individuality, and our diverse group of journalists reflect that. To make such a blanket statement on their behalf would be counterproductive to the task at hand.

This is not to say our contributors can’t take a stance – in fact, we encourage independent thought via op-eds and blog posts. However, as a whole, The Horn will not make any official endorsements.

That said, we do wish all the candidates good luck, and will continue to give you the 411 on the SG election activity. From there, you can make your own decisions on what name should fill the slot above.

Yours,
Amanda
