Monday’s suck.
Novel concept and uncommon complaint, I know. But I mean you’ve got Thirsty Thursday. Then you’ve got Friday and Saturday, which are obviously the weekend. Then comes Sunday Funday. Tuesday is all about dollar beers or wells (depending on which frat-infested venue you opt for). And Wednesday is not only humpday (cheers), but it’s also close enough to the weekend to drink without judgment. Butttt Monday…
Granted, you’ve got the whole Mexican Martini deal, sure. Swell. But unfortunately the folks at Trudy’s (in an effort to be responsible or some shit) are quite fond of cutting you off. And let’s be real—all those unlimited chips and salsa are going straight to your ass.
But now, there’s a new way to beat the Monday blues—and a legitimate excuse for your typical Tuesday hangover –that doesn’t involve inhumane quantities of queso. Ladies and Gentlemen, I bring you Park N Murray Presents: Monday Night Hip Hop at Bat Bar.
What is Bat Bar? A bar on 6th. That serves alcohol. And doesn’t have a two-drink maximum. (Until you molest or try to punch a bouncer or bartender, I assume.) So really, you shouldn’t have any objections there.
And what is Park N Murray? A badass rap and hip hop group. You know when your friends get high and decide to flow (or is that just my friends?). Well, imagine if they were actually good. Really good. Park N Murray’s sick beats, sweet flows and catchy-ass (excellent adjective choice, I know) choruses actually provide the perfect get-sloshed soundtrack. Don’t believe me? I mean, homeboys have opened for Afroman. That shit’s real.
And now—lucky for Austinites—the group isn’t just playing gigs, but once a week they’re also playing host to a number of other upcoming DJ’s and groups. So turn that frown upside down and Facebook the group Park N Murray Presents: Monday Night Hip Hop at Bat Bar for the weekly lineup. Then come out and catch all the Next-Big-Things before they get big and start playing SXSW and shit. Because Mondays just got better with downtown, drink specials and live music…
That doesn’t involve a mariachi band.
