Monday
Is being an artist on your summer to-do list? The University Co-op Art Store is hosting a workshop with artist Don Colley. He’ll be showing you how to use Faber-Castell colored pencils, brush markers, and pen techniques. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at the store on Guadalupe.
Tuesday
Celebrate the Emancipation Proclamation with the historical Juneteenth parade starting at 10 a.m. Local teens have been participating in channelAustin's Juneteenth Camp and will broadcast the parade live online and on television. The parade will start off on Comal St. and MLK Blvd.
Wednesday
Head on over to Lanai Rooftop Lounge for the 34th edition of ART Over Congress where you can see a variety of Austin’s greatest artistic talents for free. There will be over 13 artists showcased, a photo booth and tunes by DJ Grey and Daelo. The show is from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Thursday
Spend your Thursday night granny-ing it up at the Pflugerville Community Library’s Sit n’ Knit. All levels are welcome and it starts at 7 p.m.
If knitting isn’t your thing 29th Street Ballroom at Spiderhouse is having a Partyball Variety show with tons of Austin talent for just $5. It features stand-up, music, improv and more. The fun starts at 7:30 p.m.
Friday
Shakespeare in the Park is free this weekend and next weekend! The troupe will be performing “The Comedy of Errors.” The play starts at 8 p.m. at Ramsey Park, but don’t fret if you miss out because there are three more chances to see it, June 23, 29, and 30.
Saturday
If you miss out on the El-P, Killer Mike, Mr. Muthafuckin’ Exquire, and Despot show or just want to keep the party going head on over to Plush for the free after party brought to you by Keep It Local and Knuckle Rumbler. There will be plenty of great DJ’s there, but unless you have a stamp from the show you need to get in before 11 p.m.
Sunday
This Sunday one of the biggest and coolest fundraising events is going on at El Mercado Restaurant south at 8 p.m. It’s The South Austin Summer Bash, East Side Bikinis Charity Bike Wash and Live Concert benefiting Bikers Against Child Abuse. Admission is free, but if you donate $10 you get a wristband for free Corona, free Captain Morgan Black and a raffle entry. El Mercado Tex-Mex Restaurant will also be serving free food all day alongside live music.
