f you’ve heard the Rhode Island-based duo known as Brown Bird you may expect the people behind the music to be the type of dark and mysterious characters one might encounter in an 1800's seaport saloon. Band members and lovers David Lamb and MorganEve Swain have been building a steady following with their unique style of music that blends influences of blues, psych-rock, gypsy and Middle Eastern sounds with lyrics that often come across as ominous and eerie. Brown Bird’s music recalls the past while at the same time offering something completely new and different from other acts making acoustic-based music these days.

NATY Brings Food Trailers to North Austin

If you live in north Austin and have felt cut off from the endless mobile food options found in other parts of town, your troubles are over. On Saturday the NATY (North Austin Trailer Yard) holds a grand opening.

North Austin is starved for food trailers while South Austin seems to get pretty much all of the love. There are trailers scattered all around town, but north Austin has been seriously lacking food trailer's since the beginning of the craze. This Saturday that’s going to change when The NATY (North Austin Trailer Yard) holds a grand opening event.

The NATY is a 10,000 square foot outdoor eating area with loads of hassle-free parking. The space boasts a small stage, shaded tables, and a children’s play area. Judging by the territory the NATY is geared towards the families who inhabit the semi-suburbs of north Austin, as opposed to the late night drinking crowd and tourists. Here is a list of the diverse food options available:

-Snarkys Moo Bawk Oink (Anchor, SnarkysAustin.com) – Sandwiches and Doughnuts
-Genuine Joes – Coffee and Smoothies
-Big Fat Greek Gyros – Traditional Greek Food
-The Dog Pound – Awesome Hot Dogs and Snow Cones
-Michi Ramen – Authentic Japanese Noodles

The grand opening party happens on May 12 from 1PM-9PM. The event will feature local vendors and live music. The NATY is located at 1012 W. Anderson Ln., conveniently accessible from I-35, 183, and Lamar. Even if you don’t live in north Austin come on out and enjoy the festivities!
