Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: Three residents at Jester Dormitory attempted to get a non-resident into the dormitory after hours. During the investigation, the students gave three different stories as to why the non-resident needed to enter the dormitory after hours. During the investigation, the officers detected a moderate odor of alcohol on the students’ breaths and discovered two of the students were under the legal age of 21. The officers issued the students court appearance citations for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. The non-resident was escorted from the area.

A UT student was discovered sleeping on a bench located on the northeast side of the dormitory. During the investigation, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and learned he had been to several downtown establishments. The student informed the officer he was walking to his apartment located at 28th Street. When the student stood up, the officer noted the student’s lack of coordination and balance. The student was allowed to call a friend to come and pick him up.

Public Intoxication: A UT student was discovered passed out inside an 8th floor dormitory room. The student’s roommate and the on-call RA were unable to wake him after discovering the student had urinated on himself and his belongings. Austin EMS treated the student at the scene and transported him to a local area hospital for additional treatment. Occurred on: 3-24-12, at 9:15 PM.

Harassment: A UT staff member received a request for a refund from a vender after they withdrew their application to attend the IQ Conference. The vender requested the staff member to refund the monies to a different credit card account than the one used for the transaction. The staff member followed established protocol and refunded the amount on the card used. After the refund was complete, the unidentified subject began sending a series of threatening emails to the staff member. Occurred between: 3-03-12 and 3-07-12.

Public Intoxication: A UT staff member discovered an intoxicated student inside the lobby area of the dormitory. During the investigation, the officers located the student and detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath. The student informed the officers he was coming from a SXSW party that was held west of campus. When asked for his ID, the student handed the officer a credit card. The student displayed a number of clues that indicated he was intoxicated. The student was taken into custody for Public Intoxication and transported to Central Booking.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT Police Officer discovered two UT students sitting behind a brick wall. The officer observed the students engaged in an age old tradition of “puff, puff, pass.” Lying next to the students, the officer saw a silver grinder with a green leafy substance inside. During the investigation, both students admitted to the officer they had been smoking an illegal substance. Both students were issued court appearance citations for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released. Occurred on: 3-04-12, at 2:38 AM.

Criminal Mischief: A UT student discovered an unknown subject had damaged his bicycle seat. Unlike a similar incident in 2005, no beady-eyed, four-legged criminal was seen in the area. Loss value: $30.00. Occurred on: 2-01-12, between 11:30 AM and 2:05 PM.

Possession of Marijuana: A UT staff member detected a very strong odor of burning marijuana inside a 2nd floor dormitory room. During the investigation, the officers confirmed the existing odor of burned marijuana coming from the same room. The officers were invited into the room by the resident. Once inside the room, the officers observed in plain view a small stash of a green leafy substance. A substance the officers quickly recognized as marijuana. Sitting next to the stash of marijuana was a vaporizer.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: UT Police Officers responded to a smell of burning marijuana inside a 5th floor dormitory room. During the investigation, the officers located two UT students inside the room. One student informed the officer he had indeed been smoking marijuana inside the room. The student surrendered a 3-inch glass pipe that contained burned marijuana residue inside the bowl. When asked if there was anything else in the room the officers needed to know about, the other student removed a 750ml bottle of Everclear from his suitcase.

During the investigation, the officer learned the caller was making alarming sexual comments towards the staff member. After receiving several calls, the staff member utilized *57 and was able to successfully trap the incoming telephone number. Occurred on: 1-23-12, at 1:00 PM.

Public Intoxication: A UT Police Officer observed a UT student stumbling and staggering as he attempted to make his way back to his dormitory. When stopped, the officer detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and asked him for his driver’s license. The student handed the officer his UT ID. During the investigation, the officer allowed the student an opportunity to contact his roommate to come and take him home.

Deadly Conduct: Officers responded to a fire alarm at the dormitory. During the investigation, the officers detected smoke coming from a 3rd floor room and noted the window was open. Officers located a cardboard box that appeared to have been burned laying on the ground outside the building. UT staff and the UT Police Officers were able to locate the resident. The UT student informed the officers he had started a fire inside the box, doused the fire, and thrown the box outside. Occurred on: 12-04-11, at 9:48 PM.

Possession of Marijuana / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia: A UT staff member discovered a very strong odor of burning marijuana emitting from a second floor dormitory room. The responding officers also detected a very strong odor of burned marijuana coming from the same room. The officers knocked on the door and were greeted by the residents inside. During the investigation, the officers located a red grinder which contained a green leafy substance that the officers recognized as marijuana.

Public Intoxication / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT staff member reported a UT student was having an extreme physical reaction to the over consumption of alcohol. During the investigation, the officers located a UT student with her head inside a trashcan. The officers detected a very strong odor of alcohol on the student’s breath and noted other signs of intoxication. The student informed the officers that she had been drinking, a fact that was not hard to prove.

Possession of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT student was observed attempting to enter the stadium with a very suspicious bulge in his boot. The student was found to be in possession of a water bottle that contained an adult beverage. As the investigation progressed, the student attempted to talk the officer out of taking him to the Dean of Student’s temporary office. The student informed the officer that he had gotten into trouble and did not want to go. The officer soon discovered that he had arrested the student at a previous football game for Public Intoxication.

Public Intoxication: A UT student was observed swaying past a UT Police Officer with a flask sticking out of his rear pocket. The flask contained a small amount of a clear liquid that the officer quickly identified as alcohol. During the investigation, the student spoke with a thick tongued accent that caused his speech to be slurred. He informed the officer that he had indeed been drinking earlier in the day, but had run out. The student removed the flask from his pocket so show the officer that it was now empty.

Failure to Identify / Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor: A UT Police Officer observed a female student sitting on a brick wall providing alcohol enriched compost to the local landscape. The female student was accompanied by several other students. During the investigation, the officers detected very strong odors of alcohol on the breaths of the students. Most of the students provided the officers with their currently issued State ID cards and the officers learned they were all under the legal age of 21.
