The Longhorns' Disch-Falk Field
The Texas Longhorns missed the playoffs Monday when they were not selected as one of the 64 teams to play in the tournament.
The Longhorns' baseball team will have a longer summer than usual. Texas was not selected for the NCAA playoffs, leaving them with more free time and less baseball time.
After finishing the regular season third in the Big 12, the Longhorns were a no show at the Big 12 tournament.
In the first match-up against Mizzou, the eventual tournament winners, Texas scored no runs while giving up five. Things were still okay for the Longhorns though as they had the Kansas Jayhawks to play in the losers bracket.
Yet even against a much lower seed, Texas couldn't pull out a win as they fell 4-2.
The Longhorns success over the course of the season wasn't enough to make the NCAA Selection Committee forget Texas' abysmal end to the season. Texas dropped eight of their last 11 games.
Texas will miss the field of 64 teams for the first time since 1998.
