In the first match-up against Mizzou, the eventual tournament winners, Texas scored no runs while giving up five. Things were still okay for the Longhorns though as they had the Kansas Jayhawks to play in the losers bracket.
Yet even against a much lower seed, Texas couldn't pull out a win as they fell 4-2.
The Longhorns success over the course of the season wasn't enough to make the NCAA Selection Committee forget Texas' abysmal end to the season. Texas dropped eight of their last 11 games.
Texas will miss the field of 64 teams for the first time since 1998.
